Google Local Search For Mobile Devices
Posted by Ed Hansberry @ 12:00 PM
Google now has a local search engine for mobile phones. Of course, it
works great on Pocket PCs too. Simply enter the place you are looking
for and the city and state. It seems to work with Canadian cities as
well. A quick try of London though resulted in an invalid address.

pra palm: sincronizando bookmarks entre varias maquinas

4/12/2005, 7:40 AM

Pocket Favorites is something I have wanted for a long time-
"Chapura®, Inc., an innovator of software designed to simplify and
organize lives, today released Pocket Favorites™, the first
application that makes use of Palm Powered™ handhelds to synchronize
the list of Web sites in Internet Explorer Favorites between multiple
computers and lets customers launch these favorite Web sites
automatically in their mobile Web browsers. The reliable
synchronization of Pocket Favorites makes it easy to maintain a single
list of favorite Web sites in several places, and the seamless
integration with built-in browsers on Web-enabled devices adds
usability to this list on the handheld."

pda + GPS + wi-fi + amigos por perto

4/6/2005, 6:58 AM

ainda em versao beta:
Proxmitee lets you see where your friends are on a map, and lets you
find services in your current area.

If you have a GPS receiver then that can be used to detect your
geographical position. Or, you can just double-tap on the map where
you are. (most people, can read maps, and can find where they are,
especially by using HandMap's street intersection search function).

Proximitee uses very low-bandwidth wireless communications. Most taps
involve 500 Bytes or less in transmissions, helping to minimize your
wireless bills. A typical Proximitee session totals something like 3
to 6K in transmission bytes (send & receive).

homeless mas conectado

4/3/2005, 10:31 AM

vejam que interessante: um homeless de 21 anos em ny que vive nas
starbucks e kinko's da vida:

I spotted meet corey at Palm Addict and felt it worth mentioning
(brilliant story)- "Meet Corey, the Starbucks homeless-nerd. Stephanie
and I decided to interview him the other night to answer all of your
probing questions. Armed with notepad and iMic’d iPod we approached
him at his "office" in Starbucks. He was a friendly and personable,
well-spoken, and witty. He charmed us instantly, and we spoke with him
for an hour. Stephanie wrote up our experience like this:

Corey turns 21 tomorrow. He won't be celebrating this rite of passage
at '21' or over impetuous fistfuls of Jagermeister but will instead
spend the night sleeping upright in a chair at a 24-hour Kinko's.
Corey has been homeless in New York City for the past three and a half
months.

He bathes in churches, spending $20 a week on mouthwash, shaving
cream, and other necessities. The self-taught Midwestern transplant
earns money by helping people with their computer problems at Kinko's
come nightfall. During the day, he uses the ghetto-tech computer
equipment, he discovered in a dumpster, to surf the Internet at
Starbucks (picking up free wireless waves from the neighborhood). Is
he surfing monster.com for a job? "No. What's the point? No one will
hire you if you don't have an address." Instead, he'll navigate local
news and spend most of his time in Yahoo! Chat rooms trying to find
his soul mate. "I have to admit, I have quite a way with the ladies.
Especially the big ones. I like mine big.""
