paremos de perdoar companhias multimilionarias
| It's time we stopped apologising for multi-million pound companies |
The Apple v Microsoft argument is the biggest example of this behaviour with some people loving Apple and never accepting any criticism of them whatsoever. I haven't had much experience with Macs apart from one week last year and I could fully understand the reasons why people love them so much but it just wasn't for me. As for Windows it works for me but I would never class myself as a fan- it does the job and very well in my opinion as I am sure Macs do but I fail to understand why people get so stressed about operating systems? All they are is bits of code that sit on a desktop computer after all. Palm has a similar following to Apple in the PDA world- some people love the company and everything they produce and seem to excuse their products no matter what problems they have. I use a Treo 680 and prefer the Palm OS to the other big two operating systems but Palm have not produced a reliable PDA since the Tungsten T3 and even that had problems. The Treo 600 actually worked fairly reliably but was not very intuitive to use, the LifeDrive is slow and buggy (although recently improved), the Tungsten T5 was the most unreliable PDA I have ever used with the Treo 650 close behind. I thought they had cracked it with the Treo 680 but even that has a few issues- battery meter bug, slowdowns in performance, losing time (probably due to these slowdowns) and some random crashes which users are starting to report. Palm's output over the past couple of years has been poor and having thousands of people beta testing products that cost £100's is not good. I remember only a few years back when I purchased a new Palm device I felt that I was buying a quality product from a quality company. These days I start it up and wait for the first problem to appear. I could forgive some of this if their devices were cutting edge but they are far from it at this time. Some of the Windows Mobile devices over the past few years have also been very poorly put together yet there is always a queue of people willing to defend the product or the company involved. The Sony Ericsson P990i has many problems which are yet to be resolved and the list goes on and on. I am not a fan of any PDA manufacturer, I am a consumer and deserve value for money as does everyone else and standing up for poor workmanship does no one any good. We should feel no sympathy for these companies or the people that run them because we are the people that keep them in a job. We have been accused of being too negative on 247 many times and I hold my hands up and admit that I am not exactly Mr 'Happy Go Lucky' but we try to tell the truth and will always highlight an issue if we feel it is not fair on the paying public. It's a real shame that so many people appear to be accepting failures from these companies as acceptable practice now. |
