Teens apply logical rules to email, IM, social networks and SMS communications

There's a perception out there that teenagers and young adults spend so much time sending text messages, chatting via instant message programs, and posting messages on social networks that their face-to-face skills are beginning to erode.

A new study by market research firm Harris Interactive seems to contradict that perception.

Harris youth and education researcher Suzanne Martin says teens are applying some detailed and logical rules to how they communicate with each other in the digital age.
